The University Medical Center research building Leiden is a ten storey high building. The total gross floor area is 27,000 sqm. The animal center is floating like a wing, of profiled aluminum, placed above the building. The research building is part of the cluster, education and research. The starting point for the design was the modularity and flexibility of the laboratories. Scientific research is highly dynamic, so EGM has chosen a custom structure in which laboratories can be place anywhere. Large open spaces are realized in the building that work as "light catchers" to stimulate interactions between the different users.

Rollecate supplied the aluminum curtain wall, windows, entrances and turnstiles plus the profile steel interior doors.
